FAQ
I've never done this before, where do I begin?
First, just send me an email! Tell me a little bit about your pets and what you're looking for in a session, and I'll send you all the information you need.
I'm very easy-going, and sessions are really fun, so there's nothing to be nervous about. I promise
My dog hates the camera or always looks away when I try to take his picture - how will this work
Why a Professional Session is Different
A professional pet photography session is very different from snapping photos at home. If your dog tends to look away when you use your phone, it’s often because they associate the sound or sight of the device with something unfamiliar or uninteresting or they learned to dislike it because it steals attention from them.
During a session, my camera looks and sounds completely different, and I make sure your dog is rewarded with tasty treats, praise, and encouragement. This helps them associate me and my camera with something fun and positive!
You can also help at home before the session by letting your dog sniff or interact with a camera and rewarding them for being curious. The key is to keep it fun — never force them to pose — so their experience is relaxed, enjoyable, and full of happy moments.
My dog doesn't know how to sit, is that a problem?
While it helps if your dog can follow some basic commands, it’s definitely not required. For example, a solid “sit-stay” can be useful in the studio, but may not be necessary for an outdoor session.
I’ve worked with a wide range of personalities and behaviour over the years, and even the most playful or “rambunctious” dogs can result in wonderful images.
Remember: the goal is to capture the true spirit of your pet — not just perfect poses. Relax and let their personality shine!
That said, it’s important to have realistic expectations and understand that I can only capture what your pet is willing and able to do.
Should I choose a Studio Session or a Location Session?
That depends on the style you’re looking for!
Studio Sessions are shot on a simple, solid background and often have a clean, classic, or formal feel.
Location Sessions let us use favourite spots, activities, or outdoor spaces, giving a more natural, relaxed, and playful vibe. Some pets feel more comfortable in familiar surroundings, making location sessions a great choice.
Combo Sessions give you the best of both worlds — one studio session and one location session. Combos are also perfect for documenting a puppy’s growth over time, so just ask for details!
My dog isn’t photogenic.
Not true! I believe every pet — just like every person — can look amazing in a photograph. It’s all about finding the right lighting, angles, and moments that highlight their personality.
Even if your dog isn’t “show-dog material,” the love you have for them is what makes them beautiful. Our session will capture all the unique traits and quirks that make your pet truly special.
