-Beyond the photo lies a story-
A pair of 19-year-old boots carries a lifetime of memories — parades, trail rides, barrel racing, and countless adventures. They belong to a woman who, with her husband, rescued a horse no one wanted and saw something special where others did not.
For a single day, Ahnah — a little rescue herself — stepped into those boots, while flowers were placed within them, a gentle reminder of second chances and the beauty that grows from care and devotion.
In this frame, two rescued souls meet, and the devotion of a family who gives love and second chances shines through — a simple pair of boots holding the story of a lifetime of care, hope, and unwavering compassion.
BeechFest Street Fair at Pet Valu Beechwood | September 6, 2025
I was proud to be part of the BeechFest Street Fair in Ottawa, held outside Pet Valu on Beechwood Avenue, alongside Freedom Dog Rescue.
Over four hours, 36 dogs stopped by to have their portraits taken. The streets were packed, and I spent the afternoon sitting on the edge of the sidewalk, photographing dogs as they posed behind the frame — a simple setup that brought out so many smiles, wagging tails, and special moments.
The event was held in support of Freedom Dog Rescue. All the dogs who stopped by were either beloved family pets or rescues now living in loving homes.
Visitors were invited to have their pet’s photo taken and make a small donation to help Freedom Dog Rescue, a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing homeless and abandoned dogs, as well as taking in owner surrenders when families can no longer care for them.
Through the commitment of volunteers, foster homes, veterinarians, and trainers, Freedom Dog Rescue is able to provide dogs in need with loving temporary care until a carefully screened and well-matched furever home is found.
Behind the scenes came hours of editing—removing leashes and owners to let each pup’s personality shine through. This was truly an event I’m proud to have been part of, capturing joyful moments that help give back to a cause close to my heart.
Christmas with the Grinch: A Community Celebration / November 22, 2025
It's that time of year! I had the joy of photographing an event: Freedom Dog Rescue’s Grinch photoshoot at Pet Valu Beechwood. What started as a small corner of the store quickly became a world full of wagging tails, festive energy, and unforgettable personalities.
Summo and Angus, two bulldogs, were their usual confident selves—living life on their own terms. You would never know one was deaf; you’d just think it’s a typical bully breed. Lol. Eevee, a gentle rescue who found her forever home, had a few “thoughts” about the Grinch but stayed brave enough to join the fun. And Ahnah and Frankie, rescue sisters from opposite corners of the world, stole hearts with their unshakable bond and quiet support of one another.
But beyond the adorable photos, the true magic was in the community. Families and pets came together not just for pictures, but to celebrate, support, and spread love. Many will use their photos to create Christmas cards or share holiday wishes on social media. Some were repeat supporters of Freedom Dog Rescue, others were first-time visitors—but every single person contributed to the spirit of the day.
These moments—the laughter, the wagging tails, the joyful chaos—will be remembered long after the photos are printed. Every donation, every smile, every pet who braved the Grinch’s presence helped make this event truly special. It’s more than a photoshoot; it’s a celebration of community, rescue, and the joy of the holiday season. ❤️
Three Black Labs: Margo, Kirsi & Figgie
I’ve had the pleasure of meeting these wonderful supporters of Freedom Dog Rescue at every event—Margo, Kirsi, and Figgie. When they arrived with their staff this year, I thought, “Three labs in one room… this is going to be chaos!”
But they proved me wrong. Each of them happily took a turn sitting with the Grinch. One is always confident, stepping up with ease, while the other two keep a close eye on the party, watching the action unfold. Together, they brought laughter, energy, and so much joy to the room.
Fun, playful, and full of heart, these three created unforgettable memories for everyone involved. And I hear a fourth is on the way—a blonde! If three is trouble… what’s four? I can’t wait to see what new mischief this family brings to the next event.
