Welcome!

Hello Pet Valu Participants,
We’re excited to welcome you and your pets to this fun portrait event!
Below is some helpful information to ensure you and your pet have the best possible experience.

What to Expect on the Day

All pets are welcome, and every animal will have the time they need for their portrait. Some pets may be excited and energetic, while others may be shy or unsure in a new environment.

We take a relaxed and patient approach—no rushing. The goal is to create a calm, enjoyable experience for both pets and owners, with plenty of patience (and likely a few laughs along the way).

Treats & Motivation

Treats will be available on-site to help encourage and guide your pet during their session. If your pet has a specific treat that works especially well for them, you are welcome to bring it.

If your pet is on a restricted diet or cannot have treats, please let the photographer know upon arrival so we can adjust accordingly.

Squeaky toys may also be used as a non-food motivator where appropriate, however they will be avoided if they cause stress or over-stimulation for your pet.

If you prefer to handle your pet’s direction yourself (for example, if they respond best to your voice or presence), please let the photographer know. In these cases, we are happy to step back and allow you to guide them, as some pets can become overwhelmed with too much instruction from different people at once.

Personal Items

This is a classic portrait-style session. If you would like your pet to be photographed with a special outfit, accessory, or favourite toy, please feel free to bring it.

Session Style

Each pet will be photographed individually to ensure they have a calm, positive, and focused experience in front of the camera. We take our time with each pet, as some may be more confident than others depending on their personality and comfort level.

If you are bringing multiple pets, bonded pets may be photographed together upon request, provided they are comfortable. We are happy to try group portraits when appropriate; however, please note that getting all pets looking and positioned together can sometimes take patience and may not always be possible.

We will always prioritize a relaxed and positive experience for the pets over achieving a specific pose.

Leashes & Harnesses

Leashes can usually be removed during editing if needed. Harnesses are a little more complex, as they may cover important fur patterns or markings, so they are often left on to keep your pet’s natural look consistent in the final image.

Ideally, we aim to photograph pets without harnesses for the cleanest result; however, we completely understand that some pets need them for control or comfort, or that they may be part of their everyday identity. In these cases, we will always work with what is best and safest for your pet.

Image Delivery

Depending on the number of pets photographed during the event, the estimated turnaround time for final images is approximately 2 weeks.

Pet Valu will announce when the images are ready. At that time, you will receive a link to access your private gallery and download your images using a secure PIN.

Private Viewing

If children are included in the portraits, please note that all images will be delivered through a private online gallery accessible only to the client.

Portfolio & Social Media Usage

Photos from this event may be shared on social media, website galleries, and portfolio materials. Images including children will not be posted without parent/guardian permission

We look forward to creating beautiful portraits of your pets and sharing a wonderful experience with you!
